How to Open the Chrome Dino Game — Even Without Going Offline
The dinosaur that appears in Chrome when your internet drops is actually a hidden game called Dino Run. This page covers two ways to open it: going offline and staying online. And if you just want to play right now, there is a dino game that runs in any browser.
Method 1: type "chrome://dino" in the address bar
This is the easiest way. Type chrome://dino into the Chrome address bar and press Enter. The dino game screen appears even while you are connected to the internet. Press the space bar to start running.
Method 2: go offline (airplane mode)
This is the original way. Cut your connection — turn off Wi-Fi or switch on airplane mode — then open any page. The dinosaur appears together with the "No internet" screen. Press space (or tap the screen on mobile) to start.
Basic controls
| Action | Key |
|---|---|
| Start / jump | Space or ↑ (tap the screen on mobile) |
| Duck (avoid birds) | ↓ (hold) |
Jump over cacti; for flying birds, jump or duck depending on their height. Your distance is your score, and the game speeds up the further you run.
A dino game that works in any browser
chrome://dino only works in Chrome. If your work PC runs Edge, or you would rather not switch on airplane mode, a browser dino game is the answer. The KeyboardGym dino game plays without going offline, saves your personal best, and lets you share results on social media.
